Our client has architected an enterprise data layer that provides access to various data sources through standardized SOA services. SRA is seeking a System Engineer to participate in system analysis, requirements formulation, and definition of system specifications /models leading to design, development, and/or integration activities for complex information systems. Position will be located in Herndon, VA.

** This position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance with a CI polygraph or higher.

Project Overview:

This task was established to support various Government efforts to develop new tools and maintain legacy tools for targeted analysts. Specifically, efforts on this task will be expended to supply appropriate systems engineering, design, and low level architecting of potential solutions to various problems. Efforts on the task will be under the direction of Government managers.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

• Guide users in formulating requirements, advise alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies.

• Derive detailed requirements and allocate to system designs/models and generate system specifications for complex information systems.

• Seamlessly incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.

• Develop associated technical documentation for all phases (user need, requirements definition, system modeling, system analysis of operational systems, change management post deployment).

• Guide implementation of architecture by engaging with the development team as required.

• Adhere to Systems Engineering best practices.


Required Skills:

Bachelors degree in Software or System Engineering or equivalent (CS or EE)

• 3 to 5 years experience applying Systems Engineering and/or Software Engineering principles

• Experience with SysML, UML, or other engineering modeling notation

• Experience working with agile software development practices such as Scrum

• At least 1 year experience working in the requirements formulation phase of a project

• At least 1 year experience working in the implementation phase of a project

• At least 1 year experience working in the deployment phase of a project

• Experience with various Open Source and COTS tool capabilities

• Content management, workflow, metadata management

• Software as a service, portal configuration, federated data access

• Experience performing cost benefit analysis

• Excellent leadership and organizational skills

• Excellent team, writing and communication skills

Masters degree in Software or System Engineering or equivalent (CS or EE)


• 2+ years experience on a customer information technology (IT) project or 3+ years supporting IT programs in the intelligence community

• 5+ years experience on a Systems Engineering or Software development Team

• 2+ years experience with Scrum or other agile methodologies

• 2+ years experience delivering cost benefit analyses, analysis of alternatives, trade studies
